Utamaduni Craft Centre

Utamaduni, meaning culture, tradition and folklore, opened its doors over 20 years ago and has established itself as one of the major tourist attractions in Nairobi. Utamaduni is situated 25 minutes drive from the city centre (with postcard views of the Ngong Hills) close to the Karen Blixen Museum and Coffee Garden, AFEW Giraffe Centre, Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage, Nairobi National Park and Kazuri Beads. The two storey Kikuyu-style house offers a unique shopping experience, boasting 19 shops with a wealth of Kenyan culture inside.

Utamaduni encompasses the best of African craft and supports craftsmen from all over Kenya. The original concept of the the enterprise was to donate a portion of the profits made from the sale of cultural treasures to the protection of Kenyan wildlife.
