SCENIC TREKING SAFARI & MT. KILIMANJARO
Day 1 – Nairobi – On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and be transferred to a Nairobi hotel on bed and breakfast.
Day 2 – Masai Mara – Continue across the floor of The Great Rift Valley, the longest rift in the crust of the earth, to Masai Mara. You will spend two days in this natural paradise among zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. You will encounter prides of lion resting in the shade of the acacia trees or lying low in the grass in wait for their next prey. There is a good chance of spotting cheetah and if you are lucky, the shy leopard. Lunch, dinner and overnight at your Lodge/campsite.
Day 3 – Masai Mara- Another day in Masai Mara with two game drives. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. All meals and overnight at the Lodge/Campsite.
Day 4- Lake Nakuru- In the morning continue to Lake Nakuru, one of the beautiful Rift Valley Lakes, also home to thousands of flamingos and other species of birds and animals. Afternoon game viewing. All meals at a nearby hotel.
Day 5 – Lake Naivasha- Depart and drive to Lake Naivasha, one of the leading Ornithological sites in Kenya. Take a boat ride on the Lake in the afternoon. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the lodge/campsite.
Day 6 – Amboseli – After breakfast Commence your safari with a morning drive to Amboseli National Park, beautifully situated at the foot of snow-capped Kilimanjaro with a picnic lunch en route. Afternoon game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Campsite.
Day 7- Amboseli – Full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game viewing. All meals and overnight at the Lodge/camp.
Day 8 – Moshi – Overnight at the base hotel.
Day 9 – Mandara 2,275 m (7,462 ft)- After breakfast you will be driven to Marangu gate which is the entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park. From here you will walk through the rainforest to your first overnight stop at Mandara Hut situated at 2725 meters
Day 10 -Horombo 3,780 m (12,398 ft) – Experience the landscape change from rainforest to open rolling moorlands on this day walk. After approximately 5 hours of walking along broad paths you arrive at Horombo Hut situated at 3780 meters where you spend the night.
Day 11- Kibo Hut 4,740 m (15,547 ft)- Set off very early and continue up to the dry and rugged saddle area between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Overnight in Kibo Hut situated at 4740 meters
Day 12-The summit 5,685 m (18,647 ft)- Image The last part of the ascent starts a few hours after midnight. The air is now very thin and the next five hours will be the most demanding of the whole trek as you push on to Gillmans point at 5685 meters. However, you are richly rewarded as the first rays of the morning sun appear and Africa lies at your feet. If you are not too tired and if the snow conditions permit you can continue after a short rest on the final walk up to Uhuru peak at a height of 5685 meters – the highest point in Africa! Descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 13- Moshi- An easy descent along the familiar paths to Marangu Gate, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
Day 14– Nairobi- Return to Nairobi via Arusha. Lunch in Arusha. After lunch, proceed to Nairobi via Namanga arriving in the afternoon. Overnight at a Nairobi Hotel on bed and breakfast.
Day 15- Departure- After breakfast spend the day at leisure with last minute shopping details awaiting your outbound flight back home.
